Chat GPTs quick summary of today’s newsletter:

ā€œIf only you hadn't splurged on iPhones, you could've been swimming in cash like Scrooge McDuck! Instead, you're just swimming in regret, clutching your latest iPhone upgrade. Meanwhile, the Michelin Star was just a clever marketing ploy by tyre guys to get you to drive more, proving that sometimes the best ideas come from the strangest places—like your phone's inbox.ā€

Enjoy!

Tell me something new

You could’ve turned $20k into $200k. If you hadn’t bought alll those iPhones.

If you bought every iPhone since its launch in 2007 until today you would’ve spent $20,000.

If you had invested that same amount of money at the same moment in time in the Apple stock (instead of buying each iPhone) it would be worth over $200k today.🤯

The same principle applies to other things in life, too. Take a moment to reflect on this:

āž”ļø Where do you invest your time and energy?
āž”ļø What do you consume? (Not just food, but content)
āž”ļø Are you going for the shiny & fun objects (instant gratification) in each moment or for the things that give you long-term returns?

ā“ If you keep doing what you are doing today for the next 5 years... Will you end up with more or less of what you want?

Dirt track mindset

The Michelin Star. A prestigious accolade created by a been-there-done-that chef to maintain high industry standards? An award given to competition winners?

Not quite.

An idea dreamt up by the Michelin brothers in 1926, owners of the tyre company, to encourage people to get in their cars and visit restaurants they wouldn’t normally.

In their initial Michelin Guide they’d have on the reception tables, eateries would enjoy the description ā€œrestaurants worth driving toā€ and ā€œexceptional cuisine that is worth the journeyā€.

i.e. get in your cars more, wear the tyres and come back to purchase more sooner.

And here we are, nearly 100 years later and restaurants and food outlets all over the world still pursuing the sought after accolade all thanks to two creative tyre company owners.

And more importantly, Michelin is still the market leading tyre manufacturer in the world.
